What is Government e-Marketplace (GeM)?

Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is India's official procurement portal launched in 2016, managed by Ministry of Commerce. GeM Registration Process

Step 1: Seller Registration

Visit gem.gov.in. Click "Sign Up as Seller." Verify with PAN, Aadhaar (OTP), mobile and bank account. Complete profile: company details, product/service categories, GSTIN, MSME certificate if applicable.

Step 2: Vendor Assessment

For products above ₹10,000 unit value, vendor assessment by third-party agencies (STQC, Bureau Veritas, etc.) may be required to verify product quality and business credibility. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) registered sellers are exempt from vendor assessment for their own products.

Step 3: OEM/Brand Registration

If you manufacture your own products, register as OEM on GeM. This gives priority listing, vendor assessment exemption and "OEM" badge on your products — highest trust level for government buyers.

Step 4: Product/Service Catalogue

List all products/services with specifications, images, pricing and delivery terms. High-quality images and accurate specifications directly impact order frequency.
