What is IEC Annual Update?
Import Export Code (IEC) holders are required to login to the DGFT portal every year by April 30 and confirm that their IEC details are current and accurate. This annual update was made mandatory by DGFT to maintain an updated national database of exporters and importers.

If you fail to update your IEC for 2 consecutive years, DGFT automatically deactivates your IEC. A deactivated IEC means:
- Customs will not allow clearance of import/export shipments
- Banks cannot process foreign remittances against your IEC
- SEIS, MEIS and other export incentives become ineligible
- You must reactivate IEC (additional process and delay)
Step-by-Step IEC Annual Update Process
Step 1: Login to DGFT Portal
Visit dgft.gov.in and login with your credentials (Aadhaar-linked mobile OTP or digital signature).
Step 2: Navigate to IEC
After login: Services → IEC → Update IEC Profile (from dashboard).
Step 3: Review and Confirm Details
Verify all details are current: business name, address, bank details, HS codes for typical products, director/partner details. Update any changes.
Step 4: Submit
Submit the annual update. You will receive confirmation on registered email and mobile. This is FREE — no government fee for annual update.

If Your IEC is Already Deactivated
